STOP comparing indoor sauna kits by sticker price, because the kit is only part of the bill. The wiring, the floor, the insulation and the assembly labor can add thousands, and every kit leaves out something different.

The best indoor sauna kit for most homes is the Almost Heaven Serena 3-Person. It comes with a Harvia 6 kW heater, carries a limited lifetime warranty on the cabin, is listed as made in the USA, and costs around $4,725. If you want to build into an existing room on a 120V circuit, the Harvia Precut Sauna Room 36 x 48 includes the cedar, benches, glass door, 2 kW heater and accessories.

The three kinds of indoor sauna kit

“Sauna kit” covers three very different products. Pick the type before the brand, because it decides how much building you do.

Prefab cabin kits

Prefab cabins ship as finished wall, ceiling and bench panels that bolt together into a freestanding room. Almost Heaven, Finnleo’s SISU line and most infrared brands sell them this way. You need a level floor, room around the cabin, and the electrical hookup. HomeGuide puts prefab assembly labor at $300 to $1,500 if you hire it out, and Almost Heaven offers professional installation starting at $1,400.

Precut kits

A precut kit is cedar paneling, benches, a door and a heater cut to fit a room you frame yourself. It works for a basement corner, closet or bathroom nook where a freestanding box will not fit. You handle the studs, insulation, vapor barrier and drywall-level work. HomeGuide puts professional assembly of a precut kit at $1,500 to $2,500.

Hybrid cabins

Hybrids pair infrared panels with a small stove heater and stones in one prefab cabin, like the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity. You get infrared on a lower setting and a bit of steam when you want it. Expect two separate circuits.

This is the question every seller dodges. Here is what the product pages show for each kit we compared.

The Harvia precut room also ships with stones, a bucket, a dipper and a light. Check every product page for the exact list, since bundles change.

What every indoor sauna needs

A heater sized to the room

Prefab cabins come with the right heater. If you build a precut or custom room, size it yourself: Harvia and HUUM publish 1 kW per cubic meter, about 1 kW per 35 cubic feet, with extra for glass. Power

Most full-size traditional heaters need a hardwired 240V circuit: 30 A for 6 kW and 40 A for 8 kW in the Almost Heaven lineup. A dedicated indoor 240V circuit costs about $250 to $900 according to HomeGuide, and an electrical permit about $50 to $300 per Topture. Use a licensed electrician and check with your local building department: HUUM’s US control manual says permits must be obtained before installation.

Insulation and a foil vapor barrier

Precut and custom rooms need insulation behind the cedar. Finnleo calls for at least R12 in the walls and R16 in the ceiling. HUUM sets a minimum of 50 mm (about 2 in) of wall insulation, recommends 100 mm, and calls for 100 mm in the ceiling.

Over the insulation goes a foil vapor barrier. Salus Saunas advises aluminum foil or foil-faced kraft paper facing the inside of the sauna, with every seam taped using high-temperature foil tape. It warns against plastic sheeting, which can melt or off-gas at sauna temperatures.

Ceiling height and ventilation

Finnleo puts the average sauna ceiling at 84 in, with a minimum of about 77 in and a maximum of 96 in. Higher ceilings mean more volume to heat.

For airflow, Finnleo places the intake vent directly under the heater and the exhaust vent on the opposite wall, ideally about 2 ft above the floor. Salus places its exhaust higher, nearer the ceiling. Follow your heater manual, and never cover vents with insulation or paneling. Fixr prices a ventilation fan at $100 to $350 if your room needs one.

A floor that handles water

Sauna floors get wet. Almost Heaven’s Rainelle page says flooring is not included, so plan for a water-tolerant floor like tile or sealed concrete under any cabin. For basement builds, see our basement sauna guide.

Almost Heaven Serena 3-Person: Best Overall Indoor Sauna Kit

The Serena is one of the lowest-priced Almost Heaven indoor cabins, and it includes everything you need except the electrician. It fits a spare room, basement or large bathroom.

The warranty fine print shows Almost Heaven’s limited lifetime coverage is on the sauna room against manufacturing defects. The Harvia heater is covered separately: 1 year on heating elements and 5 years on other parts per the product page. Almost Heaven ships indoor cabins in 6 to 8 weeks, and some wood options showed as sold out. Harvia owns Almost Heaven, so the heater and cabin come from the same family. Harvia Precut Sauna Room 36 x 48: Best Precut Kit on 120V

This precut room is the answer for a 1-person sauna in a closet or basement corner where a 240V run is not practical. It runs a 2 kW heater on 120V.

Two cautions. The listing references Finlandia specifications, so the room may be built by Finlandia and sold with a Harvia-family heater, which we could not confirm. And the retailer page does not name a currency, so confirm the price in US dollars before you order. You still frame, insulate and add the vapor barrier yourself.

Finnmark FD-4 Trinity: Best Hybrid Indoor Sauna

The FD-4 puts six full spectrum infrared heaters and a small Harvia stove heater with stones in one 2-person cabin. It suits someone who wants infrared most days and a little steam some days.

Retailers disagree on the warranty. Topture lists 10 years on the indoor cabin, lifetime on the infrared heaters and 10 years on LEDs, while Sauna Marketplace lists 5 years. Confirm in writing before you buy. The 1.9 kW stove heater gives a gentler traditional session than a full 4.5 to 6 kW room.

For a bigger hybrid, the FD-5 Trinity XL seats four with a Harvia KIP 4.5 kW and 2,700W of infrared at around $9,998 on sale (list $15,299) at Peak Saunas. Its spec sheet pairs 240V with a NEMA 5-15P plug, which is a 120V plug type, so have your electrician confirm the wiring with Finnmark.

Almost Heaven Sutton 2-Person: Best for Tight Spaces

At about 33.6 in deep, the Sutton fits along a wall where a square cabin will not. It is the shallowest cabin in our database with a 6 kW heater.

Other indoor kits we compared

Sun Home Nova 3-Person (around $11,999 on sale): Japanese cedar cabin with a HUUM Drop 6 kW heater rated to 230F, on a 240V 30 A circuit. Sun Home’s “limited lifetime” cabin coverage is defined as seven years, and the HUUM heater’s warranty excludes heating elements. 5.0 from 5 reviews on Sun Home’s site.

Costco Sanctum 6-Person: western red cedar with a full glass front and a Harvia 6 kW heater with Wi-Fi, curbside delivery in about 3 to 4 weeks. Costco showed no price on October 13, 2026; it sold for $4,999.99 on sale in September 2025 per Slickdeals. One commenter there questioned whether 6 kW is enough for six seats.

Scandia 3-Bench Pre-Cut Kit: grade A and better cedar, a solid 2x6 cedar door and a Scandia Ultra heater sized to the room. It lists only a 1-year warranty, ships 208V by default, and its $7,785 price is not tied to a specific size or currency on the retailer page.

Finnleo SISU Custom Free Standing: prebuilt walls, ceiling and benches from 4 x 5 ft to 7 x 8 ft, with a Finnleo heater and SaunaLogic2 control. Dealer pricing only, and voltage and warranty are not listed. Finnleo is a Sauna360 brand, and the September 2026 Sauna360 recall covers infrared and hybrid models, so check any Finnleo infrared or hybrid by model number.

Safety notes

• Wiring: a licensed electrician should install every hardwired or 240V heater on a dedicated circuit, and your town may require an electrical permit and inspection.

• Use: Harvard Health advises no more than 15 to 20 minutes per session. Avoid alcohol before and during use, do not use a sauna alone if you have a health risk, and get out right away if you feel dizzy.
